Permanent link: Der Stupa von Bodnath Im Nordosten von Kathmandu in Nepal liegt der Vorort Bodnath der mit seinem Stupa zu den bedeutensten buddistischen Heiligtümern im Kathmandutal zählt. Der Bodnath Stupa ist mit einer Höhe von 36 Metern das größte Bauwerk im Tal.

Bodnath befindet sich ca 8 Km nordöstlich von Kathmandu. Hier befindet sich auch das Kloster von Cini Lama welcher der dritthöchste Würdenträger der Tibeter ist.

Permanent link: Patan / Lalitpur Nach Kathmandu, Biratnagar und Pokhara ist Patan die viertgrößte Stadt Nepals. Waren Kathmandu und Bhaktapur vorrangig durch den Hinduismus geprägt, ist Patan vorrangig eine buddhistische Stadt.

Die Stadt hat geschätze 170000 Einwohner und war bereits Um das Jahr 1000 mit ca. 100000 Einwohnern die zehntgrößte Stadt der Welt.

Die Hauptstadt von Nepal ist Kathmandu. Sie hat mehr als 670000 Einwohnerund ist damit die größte Stadt Nepals. Die Stadt befindet sich in einem Talkessel von etwa 30 km Durchmesser weshalb auch oft vom Kathmandutal gesprochen wird. In diesem Tal befinden sich auch weitere Gemeinden wie Lalitpu,Patan, Bhaktapur, Madhyapur-Thimi und weitere kleine Gemeinden. Der einzige internationale Flughafen des Landes ist der Tribhuvan International Airport (Dreilettercode:TIA) der ca. 6km von Kathmandu liegt.

Die Hindu-Tempelstätte Pashupatinath

Zu den wichtigsten Tempelstätten des Hinduismus zählt Pashupatinath in Nepal, die regelmäßig von tausenden weit angereisten Pilgern besucht wird.

Pashupatinath liegt im Kathmandu-Tal ca. 6km von Kathmandu in östlicher Richtung.

Der Tempel ist eine Pagode mit zwei Dachebenen, die mit vergoldetem Kupfer beschagen ist. Die Eingangstore sind mit Silber beschlagen und führen zu einer ca. 1,8m hohen Statue von Shiva im inneren des Tempels.
